                   19th NATIONAL PHOTO CONTEST AND EXHIBITION ON THE THEME OF

                                                                      “HAPPINESS”

  Photo Division, Ministry Of Information And Broadcasting, Government Of India had organised the 19th National Photo Contest, January 2007 inviting photographers in the country to participate in the competition by sending maximum number of entries in each section i.e. black & white and color on the theme of ' HAPPINESS ' .
A Total number of 2088 photographs ( 720 black & white and 1368 colour prints ) were received from 470 photographers. A high level Jury comprising of Smt. Shalini Saran, Shri Hiranmoy Karlekar, Columnist and former Editor of various National New Papers, Shri. Dinesh Krishnan, Editor, Better Photography, Shri Sourabh Das ,Photo Editor, Associated Press and Shri Debatosh Sengupta, Director, Photo Division screened all the entries and selected 26 award winners, 13 in each section. In addition to this, the jury also considered 83 photographers for exhibition.

 

 The Secretary, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Smt. Asha Swarup giving away the 1st prize for the Colour Section to Shri Abhijit Nandi from Kolkata at the 19th National Photo Contest on the theme “ Happiness” organized by Photo Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting

In addition to this, the jury also considered 66 photographs for exhibition. The aim of the Photo Contest was to encourage the photographers of the country so that talents available in the field could be projected and be given due recognition.The theme was rather wide in its scope and this gave the contestants a large arena from which to select their subjects.
